On August 7, 2026, Deputy Interior Minister Phonphir Suwannachai announced new findings following an inspection of a Chabad center in Patong, Kathu District. According to a statement made at Government House, authorities discovered Israeli nationals holding Thai citizenship who are linked to more than 100 companies in the area.

In a parallel enforcement action highlighting the broader tightening of rules for foreigners, authorities in Phuket recently arrested two Thai nationals and two foreigners for illegally operating international schools, according to The Thaiger.
