The Metropolitan Electricity Authority (MEA) has scheduled power outages across parts of Bangkok, Nonthaburi, and Samut Prakan from October 29 to 31. According to a report by Thansettakij (in Thai), the disruptions are part of planned maintenance across the metropolitan grid.
If you live or work in these three provinces, check with your condo's juristic office or landlord to see if your specific street or building is on the MEA's maintenance schedule for the coming days.
High tides and flood relief
While the grid undergoes maintenance, residents near the water should also monitor local levels. Weather warnings are currently in place for high sea tides in Bangkok and six central provinces, which will last until November 5, according to Thansettakij.
For expats whose homes or businesses have already suffered water damage, there is a new window to claim financial help. According to the Anti-Fake News Center (in Thai), Bangkok authorities have officially extended the deadline to apply for flood relief compensation until November 30, 2026.
To streamline the process, the city has updated its relief system across seven heavily affected districts. Key changes include:
- Extended deadline: Applications for flood compensation are now accepted through November 30, 2026.
- Online booking: A new digital queue system has been introduced to eliminate physical backlogs at district offices, according to GNews TH.
Property owners should photograph any remaining flood damage and contact their local district office to access the new online booking portal.
